About RGTU

Rajiv Gandhi Technical University has been established by the Government of Madhya Pradesh vide Act No. 13 of 1998. The University has in its fold at present 55 Colleges of Engineering enrolling over 13500 students each year besides 58 Polytechnics currently admitting 8760 students annually. One of the major area of focus of the University is to significantly improve the quality of technical education in Engineering Colleges and Polytechnics. The University soon after its establishment has focused its attention on a five point agenda which includes:

  • Curriculum innovation and Examination Reforms

  • Strategic framework for synergetic partnership with the industries

  • National and global networking

  • Faculty development

  • Quality and productivity audit of all the services offered including the quality of teaching and research

Courses on Information Technology have been provided in all the disciplines to ensure that the Engineers graduating from this University posses knowledge as well as the requisite skills in Information Technology besides having a sound knowledge of the subject matter of their chosen discipline. It is hoped that the course scheme and the innovative curriculum shall enhance the teaching–learning process in the Engineering Colleges in Madhya Pradesh. Tomorrow’s Engineers are required to posses an optimal mix of knowledge and professional skills. They are also required to posses the capabilities to cope up with the fast changing technologies, while at the same time exhibiting high professional competence and moral aptitude. The new breed of engineers turning out of the Rajiv Gandhi Technical University are poised to excel through technological knowledge and skills which will enable them to be better prepared to serve the society with humility, dedication and commitment to support the growth of national prosperity and dedicate to improve the quality of life of people. RGTU is committed to excel Madhya Pradesh in the area of Technical Education and Research. The University has planned to setup UTDs in the area of Information Science & Technology, Energy and Environment Management, Bio-technology and Pharmaceutical Sciences. A university department of Entrepreneurship and Management Development is also being setup to provide a formidable support to the development of technopreneurs in the state. The University is also in the process of setting up a centre of Excellence in IT to strengthen technology development and R & D in frontline areas for the IT industries.
